Elle a été construite en 1787 sur les ruines d'un couvent franciscain par le richissime cardinal de Milan Ange-Marie Durini. Son dernier propriétaire fût l'explorateur Guido Monzino qui léga à sa mort la villa à la fondation FAI (Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano: Fonds italien pour la protection de l’environnement). It was built in 1787 on the ruins of a Franciscan convent by the wealthy Cardinal of Milan Ange-Marie Durini. Its last owner was the explorer Guido Monzino who bequeathed the villa to the FAI (Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano: Italian Fund for the Protection of the Environment) foundation upon his death.
